Spiritually fulfilling venture set to take off

BY ZIEMAN

A new, non-stop chartered flight service to Jeddah and Madinah in Saudi Arabia from KLIA and Senai will begin from March 17.

Fly Qassim will offer non-stop umrah and ziarah flights which will depart Kuala Lumpur and Johor Baru every Monday and Friday from March 17 to July 18. It will also operate haj flights from July 18 to Sept 22.

The new service was made possible after Fly Qassim entered into an agreement with Nashwan Aviation (UAE), Nesma Airlines (Saudi Arabia) and Jalinan Pengurusan Dwi Vista Sdn Bhd (JPDV) from Malaysia.

The umrah and ziarah flights are priced at RM3,300 return from Kuala Lumpur and RM3,400 from Johor Baru.

“Hopefully, more Malaysians can enjoy an affordable and comfortable journey to these holy places,” said Fly Qassim operations director Khalid Humaid at a press conference to announce the latest venture.

Fly Qassim is a Saudi charter company with offices in both Malaysia and Indonesia, operating under the helm of its parent company, Nashwan Aviation from the United Arab Emirates.

Established five years ago, Fly Qassim flights operate under the call sign of Nesma Airlines of Saudi Arabia.

“It’s an honor to work with JPDV to serve Malaysians. We expect to fly 20,000 haj pilgrims to Mecca this year,” said Khalid.

Also present at the press conference was Nashwan Aviation chief commercial officer Datuk Seri Shiin Thomas.

JPDV managing director Norlynne Basir said the offer from Nashwan Aviation and Fly Qassim could not have come at a better time.

The former travel operator was at a crossroads after running a successful travel agent company for 15 years.

“I wanted to do something that would give me spiritual fulfillment. So when Fly Qassim wanted to work together, I grabbed the opportunity,” said Norlynne.

She added they wanted to introduce the service in Malaysia after the success of the venture in Indonesia.

“We hope that with this service, fewer pilgrims would experience problems like flight delays and cancellations,” said Norlynne, adding they aimed to be the premier umrah and ziarah charter flight provider in this region.

The Fly Qassim Airbus 330-200 aircraft can accommodate 350 people and has been refurbished with leather seats which provide comfortable legroom.

Two hot meals would be served en route and in-flight entertainment would also be provided. All passengers get a baggage allowance of 40kg.

The carrier hopes to provide six non-stop, direct flights weekly to carry umrah pilgrims from Malaysia and Indonesia. Fly Qassim also hopes to tap into the China market.

Bookings can be made directly via the Fly Qassim Kuala Lumpur office at 60111-1800 392 or authorized travel agents.

Avion express is looking for experienced cabin crew to work in Germany

Avion express is looking for experienced cabin crew for this summer season

Dear flying pals!

Avion express is currently looking for experienced cabin crew to work in Germany for this imminent summer season! the bases will be:

Cologne
Munich
Stuttgart

Below a brief introduction on Avion express history:

Avion Express is a Lithuanian airline headquartered in Vilnius that specializes in providing capacity to other airlines under the ACMI concept
The airline was established in 2005 albeit under a different name, Nordic Solutions Air Services. The main purpose of the company at the time was to operate charter and wet-lease flights on SAAB 340 cargo and passenger aircraft. The company grew steadily to a size of four SAAB 340 aircraft operating mostly in Northern Europe for integrator blue-chip clients such as TNT, DHL, and Royal Mail. In 2008 the company was rebranded to its current name Avion Express.
In 2010 Avion Express was acquired by French investment company Eyjafjoll SAS, formed by Avion Capital Partners of Switzerland along with strategic investors from industry. The new owners set up a long-term plan to develop the airline as an ACMI specialist. The first step of this plan was to move towards a jet airplane operation. A significant milestone was reached in April 2011 when Avion Express introduced its first Airbus 320 passenger aircraft. The aircraft was based in Milan, Malpensa and operated on behalf of Italian tour operators throughout the summer season.
During 2012 and 2013 more aircraft were added and by summer 2014 Avion Express operates a fleet of 9 Airbus A320 and 2 Airbus A319. In 2013 Avion Express successfully passed the IOSA Operational Safety Audit and consequently obtained an IATA registration. The last Saab 340 Cargo aircraft was removed from operation in March 2013. There are about 50 people at headquarters in Vilnius.
